This Privacy Policy explains how BookBir collects, uses, shares, stores and protects personal information when you use BookBir’s website, Android application, Progressive Web App (PWA), booking services or authorised customer-support and communication channels.

1. About BookBir

BookBir is a local travel discovery, booking and facilitation platform focused primarily on Bir, Himachal Pradesh and surrounding destinations.

BookBir helps customers discover, enquire about and book services that may include:

• paragliding and adventure activities;
• hotels, homestays and camps;
• trekking and camping;
• scooty and other vehicle rentals;
• taxis and local transport;
• local experiences;
• customised products and other local services; and
• other travel-related services made available through BookBir.

Many underlying services are provided by independent local Service Providers.

To facilitate a booking, BookBir may need to collect information from you and share relevant information with the Provider responsible for delivering your booked service.

2. Scope of This Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information handled through:

• the BookBir website;
• the BookBir Android application;
• the BookBir Progressive Web App (PWA);
• BookBir booking and enquiry forms;
• authorised BookBir WhatsApp communications;
• telephone and email communications with BookBir;
• customer-support interactions; and
• other BookBir-operated digital booking channels.

This Policy does not govern an independent Service Provider’s separate collection or use of personal information outside BookBir’s booking process.

Where an independent Provider separately collects information directly from you for its own purposes, that Provider may have its own privacy obligations and practices.

BookBir does not seek to collect detailed medical records as part of its ordinary booking process.

Such information may be shared with the relevant Provider where necessary for eligibility, safety or emergency purposes.

6. Payment and Transaction Information

Payments relating to BookBir bookings may be processed through authorised third-party payment providers, UPI services, payment links or other communicated payment methods.

BookBir may receive and retain transaction information such as:

• amount paid;
• payment status;
• transaction or payment reference;
• payment date and time;
• payment method category where available; and
• the booking associated with the transaction.

BookBir does not require customers to provide BookBir with their:

• UPI PIN;
• banking password;
• OTP;
• complete card security credentials; or
• other private authentication credentials.

Where payment details are entered directly into a third-party payment service, that provider processes the information according to its own systems, terms and privacy practices.

7. Technical and Usage Information

When you use the BookBir website or application, certain technical information may be generated or collected automatically.

Depending on the technology used, this may include:

• IP address;
• browser type;
• operating system;
• device type or model;
• screen or display information;
• language settings;
• date and time of access;
• pages or features viewed;
• referring source;

When you communicate with BookBir through WhatsApp, telephone, email, forms or another authorised channel, BookBir may process information contained in those communications.

Withdrawal of consent does not make processing that occurred before withdrawal unlawful.

Opting out of marketing does not prevent BookBir from sending necessary transactional communications relating to an existing booking, payment, cancellation, safety issue or customer-support request.

To arrange and fulfil a booking, BookBir may share relevant personal information with the independent Service Provider responsible for the requested service.

Depending on the booking, this may include:

BookBir aims to share only information reasonably necessary for the relevant booking or service.

Independent Providers are responsible for handling personal information they receive in accordance with applicable law.

If a Provider separately collects additional personal information from you outside BookBir, that separate collection may be governed by the Provider’s own privacy practices.

14. Service Providers Supporting BookBir

BookBir may use third-party companies or services to support its operations.

BookBir does not provide booking information to unrelated third parties simply so that they can independently market their products or services to customers without an appropriate basis.

This does not prevent BookBir from sharing information with Providers and operational service providers where necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

If BookBir undergoes a genuine business restructuring, merger, acquisition, sale or transfer, relevant information may be transferred as part of that transaction where permitted by applicable law.

Any recipient of personal information would be expected to handle it in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

22. Android Application and PWA

BookBir may be accessed through its website, Progressive Web App and Android application.

The principles described in this Privacy Policy apply to personal information processed by BookBir through these services.

Technical capabilities may differ between versions.

BookBir may update its applications to introduce security improvements, bug fixes or new features.

Where a new feature requires additional personal information or device permissions, BookBir will provide appropriate information and request permission or consent where required.

The BookBir Android application requests only device permissions reasonably required for its available features.

At present, the application may require basic technical permissions such as internet or network access for normal operation.

BookBir does not intend to retain personal information indefinitely.

Different categories of information may be retained for different periods depending on why the information was collected.

BookBir may retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

• administer and complete bookings;
• provide customer support;
• maintain transaction and accounting records;
• process or establish refunds;

BookBir primarily operates in India.

Some technology or service providers used by BookBir may process or store information using infrastructure located outside India.

Where personal information is transferred or processed outside India, BookBir will handle such transfers in accordance with restrictions and requirements applicable under Indian law.

BookBir may link to independent websites, applications or services.

BookBir’s Privacy Policy does not control how an independent third party processes information after you interact directly with that third party.
